So I’m a bit of a makeup hoarder. Nothing too serious, but when it comes to traveling I really have to force myself to pare it down. Especially with the lipstick! We’re off to England next week, (lots of travel posts coming in June!) so I’ve tracked down my travel makeup bag and started sorting what I’ll bring.
This is what I have so far. Maybe a little much, but baby steps, baby steps! It actually all fits in this bag I got from an Estee Lauder gift-with-purchase deal.
The Face Products. The First Aid Beauty Coconut Primer is a good all-around primer. Sticky enough to keep my makeup on, and moisturizing enough for my dry skin. I like to travel with two different foundations; one with a decent SPF, and something a little more matte. The IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC cream and the Fenty Beauty Foundation fit this bill. I find the Fenty Foundation a little too matte/dry for everyday wear, but when I know I’ll be walking/sweating this is the foundation I go for. The It Cosmetics CC cream is just great. It has the perfect amount of coverage, and 50 SPF!
For concealer I’m taking the Nars creamy concealer blogged here for spots, and the Kat Von D Lock-it concealer for under my eyes. Both have good coverage, but the Kat Von D is stronger, although it is a little dry. For blush I’m taking my trusty Lanome Blush Subtil. My bronzer (round compact with orange line) is the Sephora Bronzer powder in Anguilla. Lastly the Laura Mercier powder. This stuff is so good. One of the few powders I’ve found that set my under-eyes without drying them out. Its also a good powder to press into the skin for setting makeup elsewhere.
Beside the agony of only packing a few lip products, (dramatic!) deciding what eye products to take can be tricky. What eyeliners? Just black, or colored ones? Do I take an eyeshadow palette, or singles? This time I’m taking my Tarte In Bloom palette. This palette is an easy, neutral palette, that is also gorgeous. Most of the colors are warm, but there are a few cool-toned ones (that look warm in this picture). I like that I can create several different eye looks with this palette. Throw in some Urban Decay Primer Potion, dark purple Colourpop eyeliner, Smashbox Always on Gel Liner, and my trusty Buxom mascara and my eyes are all set. For my brows I’m sticking with the Anastasia Brow Pencil and the NYX clear brow gel.
One of the toughest parts of packing my travel makeup bag is deciding on the lip products. This time I’m taking my favorite YSL Rouge Pur Couture blogged here, the Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss in Dirty Talk, and Colourpop lippie stix and liner in frenchie. One neutral, a sparkly gloss, and the best orangery red I’ve found (with staying power!).
