My Lip Care Collection

I’ve always worn chapstick, who hasn’t? I’ve always made sure to have a tube or stick in my purse. But it wasn’t until I went through a course of Accutane a couple of years ago that I really started to up my lip care game. My first pricier lip product was the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Intensive Lip Balm. Let me tell you, that stuff is great. When my lips pealed EVERY day (like completely shed their skin every day) this was about the only thing that brought hydration. Vaseline helped too, but only as long as I could keep it on, which wasn’t long.

Since then I’ve…experimented. This is my current collection. I pretty much use each of these (expect the scrub) on a daily basis. A little extra?

These are the Frenchies. Avene and Nuxe, well known French skin-care brands, make some serious lip balms. The Avene Cold Cream Lip Balm is something I like to apply before bed because it is thick and doesn’t come off so easily. The smell isn’t the greatest, which is weird because fragrance is listed as an ingredient, but it works. The Nuxe Reve De Miel is thick. Really, really thick. There’s almost a paste consistency to this balm. To me, its more like a protectant. What is really great about this balm, is that it goes on matte, so you can wear it under lipstick (especially helpful if you’re into matte lipsticks).

Smith’s Rosebud Salve is pretty well-known, I mean Beyonce uses it! The second ingredient is cotton seed oil, which hydrates and soften my lips. The First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy is a good one too, although the texture is gritty. Not too gritty, but noticeable. It has a nice minty flavor, and hydrates reasonably well.

Last, not not least are Lush’s Lip Scrub in bubblegum and Clarins Lip Comfort Oil. Both are cult products on their own and rightly so. The scrub is vegan, works, and tastes delicious! The comfort oil comes in several colors/flavors (I have the tangerine) and isn’t too sticky. The one I have gives a nice tint to the lip and can be worn alone for if you want just a hint color.
