Minimal Style: OOTD with Pops of Color

I’ll let you in on a little secret: I don’t always plan my ootd posts. Sometimes, they just happen. Like last weekend. I was wearing a pair of black jeans and a white t shirt. Nothing special. But then we needed to go to the grocery store *moan.* I threw on a blazer (because its not exactly coat weather, but grocery stores are cold!) and my pair of Aquazzara heels and BOOM. Unexpected minimal style ootd. I looked at myself in the mirror and was like “Oh, this is going to be an OOTD post for sure.” White linen blazer, black jeans, white v-neck t-shirt, rose-gold mule heels. Minimal OOTD,…

    90s Inspired Grunge OOTD

I spent most of the 90s wearing cutesy dresses, things with Minnie Mouse or Barney on them, and all-denim ensembles with Timberlands (yes, that last one actually happened, I have the pictures to prove it). So I missed out on some pretty cool trends. Some of these trends are back in style (bias skirts, neon, big sweaters), and last weekend I was channeling the 90s dress + cardigan + boots grunge ootd. All The Craft vibes, let me tell you. To wear chartreuse, I really have to be feeling myself, lol. Dress I got this dress from Asos a couple of years ago for a trip to Jamaica (yay for…

Sewing and Styling a 1950s Skirt

Did you dream of a closet full of poodle skirts when you were little? No? Just me? Cool…. But really, a full 1950s, midi skirt is just so dreamy. Pair it with a petticoat for that new look look, or wear without, either way you’re in for some twirling! When I saw this reissue Simplicity pattern, I knew I had to make myself one. (I have a true vintage pattern for a 1950s circle skirt, but its for a size that was a few pounds ago). And I had a gift card for Mood Fabrics, talk about my fancy self! I chose a very nice black, double-faced (meaning I wouldn’t…

Modern Mod: Madewell, H&M, Sezane OOTD

After what feels like forever, I’m finally back! I switched web hosts which took a lot longer than I thought it would, but I’m back at it now. So to kick things off (or on?!), I want to share a little OOTD from last weekend. I’m calling this “modern mod.” Why “modern mod,” you may ask? Well, for starters: mini skirt. For seconds and thirds, a mini skirt made of cord material in burnt orange. Does it get more 60s than that? I picked this skirt up from Madewell a few months ago. I was on the hunt for this style of skirt and finally found one (in my size!).…

Winter OOTD: Keeping Warm with Cashmere

Winter outfits. That struggle to look fashionable when all you want to do is walk around under layers of sweaters and poofy coats like a polar bear. I think I may have found the answer: cashmere. Is it expensive? Yep. Is it finicky to care for? Yep. Is it unbelievably warm and soft? Yes! Last weekend I had a bunch of black Friday returns to make (online shopping is hard!). The weather here has turned cold (as least cold as far as the Pacific Northwest goes), but I didn’t want to wear a heavy coat all day. I also wanted to be comfy. The answer? Leggings, cashmere sweater, and over-the-knee…

    One Weekend, Two Dresses

So last weekend I was rocking the dresses. On Saturday I had a new dress to wear, and on Sunday I went to the symphony, so I wanted to dress-up. I’m also still recovering from hand surgery, and dresses are so much easier to put on than pants. Saturday I picked up this beauty at Nordstrom. I’ts by the brand Hinge, which is a brand exclusive to Nordstrom. I really like the vintage feel of this dress. It’s got a 60s/70s boho feel to it, but on the other hand, the print wouldn’t be out of place for the 30s because its geometric and classically feminine because of the flowers.…

    Spring Look: Floral and Loafers

The weather has finally warmed up here in the Pacific Northwest. With temps in the 70s and several days without rain, it actually looks and feels like spring! When the weather is so pleasant like it has been, I sometimes get a craving to wear a floaty dress, something I can feel flapping around my legs in the breeze. Don’t get me wrong, I like to wear dresses in the winter too (with thick, black tights!) So last Saturday I donned this little floral number I recently picked up at H&M. (picture look familiar? I shot this on the same day I shot the picture for my Senreve review) I…

Asos, Banana Republic, Sezane, and Born

When you live in the Pacific Northwest you have to roll with the punches, weather-wise. This is especially true if you’re a fashion blogger because natural light is so essential to taking decent outfit photos. Well, last Saturday the weather was crap. Rain all day and cloudy, dark skies. But I didn’t want to let this Asos/Banana Republic, Sezane, and Born combo go to waste. So we did some indoor shooting. Not the best photos you’ll see on this blog, but such is life. (I also had to edit these photos within an inch of their life) First up, this gray, chunky-knit, v-neck sweater from Asos. This is a dupe…

Asos and Aritzia, A day Out in the City

When we spend a day in the city I want to look good, but also stay warm/comfortable. Cue a pair of mom jeans, sneakers, a nice blouse, and big, heavy wool coat. The jeans are the Farleigh high waisted mom jeans from Asos. The top is a recent purchase from Aritzia (my first time wearing this brand!). The coat is an old swing style one from Modcloth before Walmart bought the company and the selection became kind of meh. Let’s just talk about these jeans, because they are one of my favorite jeans in a loooong time. A while ago I got it into my head that I HAD to…
