The Bare Essentials Makeup

When I want to get out the door, or I’m just not feeling a full face of makeup (probably because I plan on napping), this is the makeup I go for. A little lash, concealer for the under eyes and ache scars, powder to set the concealer, blush so I don’t look too pale, clear brow gel because I have long eyebrow hairs that like to go all wonky, and my favorite nude lipstick; these are my little cast of bare essential makeup characters.

The blush is by Lancome and quite possibly the best blush I’ve ever used. It is very finely milled and pressed so well (and believe me, I’ve dropped this sucker several times). I’ve been using it for so long and you can still see the Lancome flower indentation. Crazy! The color is Aplum and is very flattering on my skin tone. I find that darker blushes make my skin look very pale by contrast. This one gives a healthy color to my cheeks. I even apply some to my temples and brow bone.

I feel like the Nars concealer needs no introduction. Its the soft matte concealer we all know and love. It gives great coverage. I like to warm mine up a bit before applying with my fingers.

Nyx’s clear brow clear is perfect for keeping my brows in place. I like to brush my brows into shape with a spoolie before i apply the brow gel. Since this is a clear formula it doesn’t make my brows look any thicker, but I’m okay with that.

Fact: I have dry skin, especially in the winter. So finding a good setting powder can be a little tough. This baked power by Kiko Cosmetics is just right. Reminiscent of the Hourglass Ambient powders, but, dare I say, not as chunky, this powder sets my concealer, but doesn’t make my skin look like the Sahara.

Lancome is known for their mascara, and the Hypnose Drama is no exception. This formula gives my lashes extra drama and the curved brush makes application easier, especially on my bottom lashes. (note: this mascara takes a little longer to dry so if you use a setting spray make sure your lashes have time to dry!)

Can you tell this lipstick has been used? Because it HAS. This is the YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick in shade # 10. The first time I tried this on I felt like Kim K. And I know basically nothing about Kim K, except that her lips are amazing. This lipstick is comfortable, very creamy, though not long lasting because its not a matte formula. And that packaging! I don’t normally care much about packing, but YSL’s packaging is beautiful.
