Algenist: My First VoxBox

About a month ago, I got a wonderful email. An email from Influenster telling me I had been selected for the Algenist Genius Sleeping Collegan Cream campaign! I was so excited. I had filled out the survey influenster sends users when a new campaign is set, but wasn’t getting my hopes up. A few weeks before I had filled out a hair related survey before and not been selected. So when I got the “You’re In” email I started stalking my front porch hardcore. In about a week, my VoxBox arrived.

For this particular campaign, the VoxBox included the collegan serum which I had used before and enjoyed. This serum came in a sample size (.25 oz) and the cream (a new one from Algenist, hence the campaign, 2 oz. First off, the packaging of both products feels so lux. The serum has an eyedropper (the top of the cap pushes in to suck up product). The sleeping cream jar is glass and HEAVY. No cheap jar for this $98 night cream.

I know what you’re thinking. Did I like this new cream? Did it work? Live up to expectations? Worth the $98 price tag? Yes and no. I do like this cream. The texture is so smooth and it melts into my skin quickly. It is also very thick; I have to dig it out of the pot with my fingernail. And the richness of the formula does seem to ease the appearance of fine lines. Whether this is due to the plant collegan, or just the thickness of the formula, I don’t know. Do I think this cream is worth $98? Not really. I have several skincare products (by First Aid Beauty, Origins, and The Ordinary) that are lower in price and do just as well for fine line reduction and skin plumping. Did I enjoy the experience of a lux skin cream I received for free? Yes! So much.

I look forward to my next VoxBox, and hope its not far away!

*I received these products complimentary from Influenster for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
